About our foodbank

Nicky Haris, Our Project Manager

My name is Nicky Harris and this is a little bit about me!

I have 2 grown up sons and a cat, originally named Kitty! I moved to Cheshire when I was 2 yeas old and went to school in Holmes Chapel which lead to a career in the property/building industry, until I retired in 2020.
In February 2019 I set up a baby bank called Fresh Start Baby Bank with a close friend, after watching a Channel 4 Dispatches programme. We, mistakenly, thought we would act as facilitators in that when someone needed a pram we would ask our friends if anyone was giving one away, little did we know it would balloon into the full time job it became, providing clothes, furniture, toys etc to families in need in the South Manchester & Cheshire area.

During 2020/21, when Covid caused a change in the operation of the baby bank, I saw an advert looking for a Project Manager at Middlewich & District Foodbank and applied. I felt that both jobs could work well together. I was successful and the Trustees also felt both jobs are interlinked with the same mission.
In April 2021 I started and can honestly say I love the job. I am surrounded by the most amazing group of volunteers who run the foodbank with a smile and will do anything I ask of them.
I feel I am approachable and my main ethos in life is to help people whether it be finding a chest of drawers, child’s bed or a packet of pasta I will do whatever it takes to fill the need.
