About

About our foodbank

Here is an introduction to our project.

We are a small volunteer led food bank and a registered charity. We are part of the Trussell Trust Food Bank network and we are open three days per week. We have a rota of volunteers who collect donations for us from our various drop off points and deliver them to our warehouse in Middlewich. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, our volunteers work to sort through these donations. They date, sort into product type and store away everything we receive.

“Without our volunteers we are words on a piece of paper. Our volunteers make things happen, we are extremely grateful for each and every one of them”
Nicky Harris, Middlewich and District Project Manager

Each week, we receive between 15 and 40 requests for emergency food parcels.

When we receive a request for food, we ask about dietary requirements, such as vegetarians, food allergies, gluten free etc. We also need to know the ages of any children at home, so that we can provide appropriate food. We follow guidelines set out by The Trussell Trust, which is a national food bank organisation, this ensures that we have information such as nutritional guidelines when packing our parcels. The parcels are then collected by the client, or in exceptional circumstances, we will deliver the parcel.
